【剧情简介】
一八三五年佐治亚州，年幼的乔治亚和好友尤菲米亚正在河边玩耍，突然一骑快马急速而过。回到家中，才知尤菲米亚的父亲在来接女儿回家的路上因心脏病发作去世。尤菲米亚极度难过，姐夫巴特莱特将她接到德克萨斯的家中，与姐姐他们一起生活。以萨姆・休斯敦为首的德克萨斯独立战争爆发了，巴特莱特戎马出征。姐姐萨拉历尽千辛万苦，带领所有军人的家属转移，为战争的胜利争取了时间。
