英国著名独立唱片公司4AD，应该是世界上最具艺术品质的唱片厂牌。小众另类的音乐品位，独特的音乐风格，高品质艺术之声，超低调的发行方式，旗下的艺术家们均远离水银灯和大众传媒，4AD一直批着神秘的面纱与主流音乐界不相往来。4AD厂牌的相关介绍在下面会有转贴介绍。

这张4AD公司发行于1992年的精选集收录了公司旗下最经典和最新锐乐队及艺术家们（我绝不把"歌手"用在4AD上)的代表之作，全貌展现了4AD瑰丽多彩的音乐流派，尽显一派4AD风格，有4AD成立之初从Beggars Banquet挖来的另类鼻祖Bauhaus、Modern English、The The；Cocteau Twins、Dead Can Dance、Pixies等代表着4AD音乐事业最顶峰的乐队；Michael Brook、Spirea X、Swallow等新晋乐队，一路走来，4AD的发展历程历历在目，同时也书写了一部另类音乐的发展史。

非常抱歉的是，Sounds of 4AD本为双张套装，但我翻遍所有CD架，都没有找到Sounds of 4AD I，估计是哪个损友借去之后听得耳朵流油，就长期霸占为己有了，整个下午我的脑袋都处于搜索状态，就连N年前某人借了我一支笔的事都想起了，可这位爱乐人却一直没浮现在我眼前（本应是easy的，因为着迷4AD的人实在是少哦，唉～只有take it easy...）。想到哪写到哪，有点跑题，主要是非常懊恼Sounds of 4AD I无法一并发布，但我会在短时间内补上的，因为大家只要一看Sounds of 4AD I的cd曲目单，就会和我一样愤怒（但请不要对我愤怒～)。

言归正传，这里发布的是4AD与台湾Red Hot Inc.合作发行的限量亚洲版，与4AD公司在英国发行的Lilliput (limited edition [3000] double LP with book)在曲目上完全一致，不同处在于封套内页及专辑名，下面是英国版Lilliput的封套与内页：





Lilliput was a special 4AD project which included a two-CD compilation of songs by various 4AD artists from 1981 - 1992. The deluxe, limited-edition (only 3,000 were made) format included two compact discs, a booklet, and a t-shirt. The booklet included a brief history of 4AD, numerous 23 Envelope/v23 photographs, and descriptions of each of the featured tracks and artists.

这张专辑在网上的资料少得可怜(相关网页数小于9)，中文是没有的，就那么几个英文网页。奇怪的是，我在4AD的官方网站居然没找到Lilliput 的资料，倒是Cocteau Twins官网里Discography页面上介绍有Track featuring Cocteau Twins。

题外之话：
哥特摇滚、唯美仙音派、噪音流行、另类电子、暗暗黑（4AD把暗黑弄得更黑更暗）、后朋克......这些东东要么就是4AD开创，要么就是发展到极致。听了the Pixies，你就会明白Nirvana不过是the Pixies门下一个成绩中等的学生（Nirvana的粉丝不要扔转头过来～），Grunge音乐浪潮的源头竟是4AD......再举个例，听了Cocteau Twins，你会明白王菲在Cocteau Twins（双生鸟！多美的译名）处借鉴的演唱元素，比她在Tori Amos和The Cranberries身上学到的还要多......
