Scandinavian Folk Black Metal incorporating violins, willow flutes, mouth harp and flute. OTYG was previously known as BLACK BURNING EVENING. The name OTYG was taken on in the Spring of 1995 by Vintersorg (Andreas Hedlund) and guitarist Mattias Marklund. Subsequent recruits included OBSCURED frontman Daniel Fredriksson on bass and violinist Cia Hedmark.
As OTYG they re-debuted with a demo titled 'Bergtagen' which featured female vocals from Sara. A further tape entitled 'I Trollskogens Drömmande Mörker' led onto a better distributed demo 'Galdersang Till Bergfadern' emerged in 1996, which saw the departure of Sara and Cia Hedmark taking her role for vocal parts. Signing to the Napalm label OTYG debuted with the 'Älvefärd' ("Elves journey") album. Flute work for these sessions was contributed by Marianne Folkedotter and Linda Björkman. Drummer Stefan Strömberg then bowed out to be superseded by Fredrik Nilsson.
The 1999 record was set to be titled 'Trollslottet' but finally emerged as 'Sagovindersboning'. It included a radical rework of DIO's 'Holy Diver'! Frontman Vintersorg, besides being frontman for HAVAYOTH, also runs his own project aptly titled VINTERSORG, Cia Hedmark too contributing to this latter project. Vintersorg has come to the fore with BORKNAGER. Hedmark meanwhile joined the female fronted Viking Metal band HEL.
