Compiles commercial and field recordings with extensive historic notes by Ankica Petrovic (Berkeley), who was, until 1992, a professor at the Music Academy of Sarajevo University. These recordings display the unique confluence of Turkish and European influences that characterized the region of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Voices from an endangered world, many of these Muslim performers having been killed or displaced by war. Royalties from this recording have been designated to support humanitarian aid in the region.
