爵士钢琴三重奏的精华就在於三位演奏者精妙无比的默契，而史提夫肯恩的这个三重奏显然就有极佳的默契，因为他们居然使用极快的速度来詮释各式各样的歌曲，让三重奏充满著高速竞飆的快感。十首爵士经典曲，每首都可听到演奏者之间用心的詮释。Venus著名的24位元Hyper Magnum母带处理技术，鼓刷高频细致迷人、钢琴清晰亮丽的颗粒感、贝斯稳重的低频表现，忠实的重现了这个1998年录制於纽约Clinton Studio的录音现场热情的气氛。

Steve Kuhn出身美国东岸，曾受教於上低音萨克斯风手Serge Chaloff的母亲，担任钢琴教师的Chaloff夫人。在McCoy Tyner加入之前，擅长演奏调式爵士（Modal Jazz）风格的Steve Kuhn曾经担任John Coltrane四重奏的钢琴手，也是这个乐团唯一的白人乐手。Steve Kuhn早年曾为Kenny Dorham、Art Farmer、Stan Getz等人效命，以演奏精纯咆勃风格的爵士乐为主。七○年代以后，Steve Kuhn为ECM录制了不少代表性作品，在这些专辑中他尝试演奏电子琴，冶古典和即兴音乐於一炉（例如Trance）。不过在这段期间，Steve Kuhn最受好评的作品，是与女歌手Sheila Jordan合作的Playground，可惜目前为止尚未CD化。
八○年代以后，Steve Kuhn又走回原音爵士的演奏路线，其间他也接受日本爵士厂牌Venus之邀，录制了不少评价不错的三重奏专辑，其中最富盛名，也较容易在台湾买得到的，自然是精纯咆勃佳作Love Walked In，只要听Steve Kuhn在第一轨「No Problem」中火力全开的热烈演出，就已经值回碟价！
This is a great recording featuring pianist Steve Kuhn with Buster Williams on bass and drummer Bill Stewart. Starting with No Problem by Duke Jordan and finishing with Cole Porter's You've Changed, the program of mostly standards is perfect for showcasing the musicianship and elegance of the trio.
Pianist Steve Kuhn has played a wide variety of music throughout his career, including his own intriguing originals and collaborations with Sheila Jordan. This set, a straight-ahead swinger with bassist Buster Williams and drummer Bill Stewart, should greatly satisfy bop-oriented jazz fans, for it finds Kuhn coming up with consistently fresh ideas in a conventional but far from exhausted setting. Whether digging into Duke Jordan's "No Problem," "Love Walked In," a passionate version of "Autumn Leaves," or even "Sunny," Kuhn is heard throughout at the top of his game. The presence of Williams and Stewart in supporting but stimulating roles clearly inspired Steve Kuhn, making this an easily recommended date. ~ Scott Yanow

毕业于哈佛大学的Steve Kuhn，1938年生于美国纽约布鲁克林区，五零年代后期崛起于波士顿，他曾追随名师修炼俄罗斯钢琴技巧，并广受爵士爱好者的欢迎，被誉为“音乐家中的音乐家”。
此次，由他领军组成的爵士三重奏，以特有的摇摆风格诠释“No Problem”，以别开生面的蓝调方式演奏“Sunny”，以现最走红的巴萨诺瓦曲风演绎公爵的名曲“Prelude to a Kiss”，至于“Autumn Leaves”和Archie Shepp四重奏中“Les Feuilles Mortes”更赋予崭新的音乐生命！

This album is worthy of the title Cd of the Year, no matter what year of the last thirty or so it was released. A wonderful emphatic masterclass demonstration by Kuhn, Williams & Stewart. This is how a piano trio should sound, youngbloods take note. A swinging combination of originals and standards, inventive, surprising and IN THE POCKET. A Class Act.
