Blender是一套三维绘图及绚染软件。它具有跨平台的特性,支持FreeBSD,IRIX,GNU/Linux,Microsoft Windows,Mac OS X,Solaris,及 SkyOS。
最初,Blender是被荷兰的一个影片工作组NeoGeo 与Not a Number Technologies (NaN)设计为家用的程序。但后来其主要程序设计者Ton Roosendaal于1998年6月将其进一步发展,并对外发布这个程序。 
在经过债权人同意后,Blender缴付一次性报酬欧元十万元后变为自由软件,并以GNU通用公共许可证发布。在2002年7月18日,Roosendaal开始为Blender筹集资金,在2002年9月7日,Blender宣布筹集足够资金,并将其源码对外公布。所以,Blender现在是自由软件,并由Blender基金会维护与更新。
功能
Blender的安装后所占空间很少以及可以运行于不同的平台。虽然它经常不连说明文档或范例发布,但其拥有极丰富的功能,而且很大部份是高端模组塑造软件。其特性有:
支持不同的几何图元,包括多边形网纹,快速表层塑模,曲线及向量字符。
多用途的内部洵染及整合YafRay这个开源的射线追踪套件。
动画工具,包括了反向动作组件,可设定骨干,结构变形,关键影格,时间线,非线性动画,系统规定参数,顶点量重及柔化动量组件,包括网孔碰撞侦察和一个具有侦察碰察的粒子系统。
使用Python语言来创作及制作游戏及工作自动化脚本。
基本的非线性影像编辑及制作功能。
Game_Blender,一个子计划,用以制作实时的电脑游戏。
先进功能
在Blender中,物体与数据是分离的,这使其可以快速塑模。
可以将多个场景合并至单一档案(称为".blend" 的档案)。
所有blender所生成的".blend"档案均有完善的向前,向后版本的兼容性,同时亦具有完整的跨平台支援。
自动定时储存".blend"免得因当机而出现资料遗失。
所有场景,物件,材料,材质,声音,图片,后期制作特效均可整合至最后生的的".blend"动画档里。
可透过 ".blend"档案来自行定使用者接口。
用户接口
Blender提供了非常多的工具,因此其使用者接口对初学者来说是复杂的,但通常要花点时间看说明文件便能上手。一般来说,可大致分为以下各种接口模式和技巧。

可自行调节工作空间
