"Painting It Red"是英国乐团“The Beautiful South”的第八张专辑，最高取得了英国榜第二的成绩。
乐团介绍： 1989 组建于英国赫尔，来自 housemartins 乐队的 paul heaton 和 dave hemingway 是 beautiful south 的核心人物（均为主唱）。自从 1989 年的第 1 首单曲《song for whoever》登上英国排行榜第 2 位时，便显示了他们非凡的实力。乐队的鼓手也是前 housemartins 的成员 david stead，贝司手是 sean welch，heaton 的另一位写歌搭档是吉他手 dave rotheray，最值得注意的是，为乐队加入另一条声线的是女主唱 brianna corrigan。
《welcome to the beautiful south》是乐队的第 1 张专辑。在1990 年的第 2 张专辑《choke》中，brianna 和 dave 合唱的《a little time》是乐队著名的单曲，也成为排行榜的冠军。《let love speak up itself》也是 heaton 的最出色的表演之一。而 1992 年的《old red eyes is back》则描述了乐队的嗜酒史。不幸的是，一次在意大利观看球赛时，heaton 在撒丁岛突然失踪，为乐队的前程笼罩了一层阴影。虽然如此，乐队还是在 1992 年初出版了第 3 张专辑《0898》。
不久以后，brianna 离开了乐队开始了个人生涯。 1994 年初，乐队又加入了一名嗓音更加醇厚的主唱 jacqueline abbott。 abbott 在单曲《good as gold（stupid as mud）》和翻唱 harry nilsson 的《everybody is talking》中初次露面。 1995 年，第 4 张专辑《miaow》获得了巨大的成功，但不见得是最佳专辑。年底，他们又推出了一张精选集，一张高销量专辑《carry on up the charts》，它也确立了乐队在广播系统的巩固地位。 1996 年秋，乐队出版了新专辑《blue is the colour》。
其实The Beautiful South大可安安份份做一支走高格调路线的Pop乐队，首首作品造句俏丽，再配以三位主唱（paul heaton,dave hemingway及brianna corrigan）柔顺剔透的声线，然而偏偏这几位南方人不愿同流合污粉饰太平雕造空中楼阁，于是他们的作品在清新悦耳中总带有几分黑色幽默与荒诞不经。（转自“子弹牙托尼”，感谢！）
