@简介

一个电影制片作记录片在缅怀自己被杀的好友时却发现那个杀死他的女人原来怀着被杀好友的孩子。

导演库尔特极为强大的纪录片，初衷是为缅怀被杀的朋友安德鲁巴格比，他在2001年被疯狂的前女友谋杀了。然而，当库尔特飞越大半个地球去采访杀死巴格比的女凶手的朋友和家人时，发现那个女凶手雪莉特纳，早已逃到纽芬兰逃脱逮捕。由于加拿大法律背后的干预保护，她仍是自由人;在此期间，她透露她怀了安德鲁的孩子。大卫和凯瑟琳（安德鲁巴格比的父母）知道这个女人得为他们儿子的死负全责之后，他们也去了纽芬兰，以便更接近自己的亲孙子。然而这让事情变得更糟。

神一样的纪录片。
都说去年最好的纪录片是man on wire，我个人认为Dear Zachary的开创性远远超过了man on wire，或者去年很多其他被hype的纪录片。

纪录片的形式，看过之后却是极具起伏，极具冲击力的体验，很有可看性。探讨的话题，探讨话题的方式也都极具深度。

引用某记不起来名字的纪录片影评家: "best since the thin blue line(1988)"

一点建议给诸位有兴趣的筒子：看此片之前千万不要看任何剧情介绍，否则会失去很多观片中的冲击力

thanks. i think you'll love Friedmans though it is a different use of home video (more investigative probing that leads to uncertain conclusions; multi-perspective interpretation that complicates footage like Grizzly Man.)

DZ i found a totally draining experience in grief coping. It's an interesting fusion of suspense genre and home video driven by love and belief in WYSIWYG (opposite of Friedmans' "truth is too complex/large to be captured easily".) though without the drive of genuine and universal love, i wonder how much the suspense by withheld info would sustain the momentum - or is that masterful storytelling? i find KK's sudden shift from loving "bystander"/skillful storyteller into a "mean spirited" purging when mocking the legalese, a bit disconcerting. it may not be if his own personality is bigger part of the narrative.

I admit the emotional roller-coaster ride contributed a lot to impressing me. The film ends with questioning Canadian parole system, yet I feel more importantly it's a paean for love, parents to son, grandparents to grandson and among all the friends. I mean, KK's appeal to change the jurisdiction system resonate most when we are bluntly exposed to such monstrous crime. But personally, I find the "genuine and universal love", as you mentioned, more penetrating, both in a sense that the film centers around the lovely Bagbys, and that the fast-paced, breathtaking narrative and interview cuts shine as contrasts when longing loving emotion is carefully unwrapped. IMHO, this touch on the pace of the film skillfully enhanced audiences’ personal engagements to this event. That's why the story appears as vivid and as painful. KK has never been a stand-aside storyteller in DZ, he chose his identity as an intimate friend from the beginning. He's too emotionally involved to be a bystander.

As to "suspense by withheld info", DZ is shot in real time: KK started to film right after Andrew is murdered, and all the events unwrapped in the process of his film making. In this sense, maybe the twist is better justified as "real-time" than simply withheld purposefully as a shock.

编导Kurt Kuenne长在硅谷附近，从小就喜欢拍电影，他有个童年的发小Andrew Bagby，矮矮胖胖的，经常在小电影里演个喜剧人物、被杀的蠢蛋什么的。Andrew是家里的独子，母亲是英国人。他从小立下大志，要上医学院，不过大学毕业的时候没被医学院录取。后来有一家医学院录取了他，但是在加拿大Newfoundland。那时Andrew已经有了一个未婚妻，但不知怎么的就分手了，后来他身边出现了另外一个女人。

那是个加拿大女人Sherly Turner，比他大十二岁，离了两次婚，有三个孩子，也是那所医学院的毕业生，但没完成住院医生的工作，不能行医。那时Andrew的老同学们都到了结婚的时候，他被邀请当伴郎，有时带着她有时她不请自来。在旁人看来，这个女人疯疯癫癫的，他们应该不是一类人。

A医学院毕业后回到美国，在宾州一个小城的一个诊所当家庭医生，他和同事的关系也不错。S则在IOWA州找到了工作。2001年的一天，A告诉同事，他和S分手了，买飞机票把她送上了回爱州的飞机。几天后的凌晨三点，同事接到A的电话，说S来了。同事猜S是下了飞机就马不停蹄地开了1600多迈回来了，来者不善，既然分手了就赶紧不要见面，赶紧叫警察为是。同事还约他到七点多的时候到同事家会面。到九点多钟，A没来上班，去找，不在家里（他住在诊所对面）。几天后A的尸体在宾州一个国家公园被发现了，身上中了五枪。

所有证据证明是S谋杀了A，但警方调查收集证据用了两个星期。就在这期间，S跑回了加拿大Newfoundland。令人惊异的是加拿大法庭让其被七万五美金保释了，其中她的心理医生出了六万五。

过了两个月，传来消息，S居然怀上了A的孩子。A的父母坐不住了，两人退休变卖家产来到了加拿大Newfoundland，一定要看到A的骨肉。

2000年7月，一个叫Zachary的男孩在父亲被其母谋杀八个月后诞生了。A的父母开始争夺抚养权，但S这个神经不稳定的杀人嫌疑犯居然掌握着抚养权，祖父母每周只能在第三方在场的情况下见到孩子几小时。后来S进了监狱，老头老太才有机会和孙子在一起，但只有短短的两个月。在小孩快到一岁生日的时候，S又给放出来了。

就在这时，Kurt Kuenne有了拍一部片子的念头，要让给儿其知道其老子的一切。他访问了A父母双方的家人和A的朋友同学同事，纪录了Zachary一岁生日的活动状况。也许是天然的情感联系，小孩更喜欢祖母而不是其母，这令S非常不满。

又过了一个月，消息传来，S带着孩子不见了。后来在海边发现了尸体，证明是S带着孩子投海自尽了。

一个无辜的孩子就这样死于司法制度的漏洞，在遵纪守法的前提下，A的父母得到这样的结果，自然不平则鸣。没有什么可失去的了，他们成了社会活动家，为向不合理的制度开战，有关儿童保护组织和法庭的责任人被撤职，心里医生被剥夺了执照，A的父亲去年还出版了一部畅销书Dance With Devil。但加拿大的保释条例还没有修改，一个杀人犯还可能自由地生活抚养儿童，进而给他机会继续作恶。

2006年有关调查报告出笼，S在和A交往之前就有过威胁恋人要自杀的行为，被八个人控告不可接近。她也多次向心理医生交待有自杀的倾向，但这些都被法庭和儿童保护组织忽略了。
