The clothes don’t make the monk » is a French proverb and a proverb of circumstance or still we could say “ the appearances are deceptive”. That is what we can say after the listening of the first album of HYSTERIA “Haunted By Words Of Gods”. This band from Lyon (France) has created in 1996 and it’s always the original line up which officiates at present. The cover, the book, the logo let augur a strong contents. The hostilities start with the eponymic song and quickly we say to ourselves that we are confronted with brutal and heavy death like the one of MORBID ANGEL. But this conclusion is very too hasty. Indeed, if the base is the death, and even the brutal for the vocal, on the other hand the quartet wanted to innovate and to differ from what is made in the kind. First of all, the compositions are complex and possess numerous facets due to the variety of rhythms and atmospheres met, sometimes filled of heavy. A mattering element that it is also to specify is the presence of melody, which could intervene as well at the level of the riffs as the solos. Therefore, it isn’t evident to choice a song rather than another because they have all their own charms, here it would be rather a question of personal taste. Certainly, HYSTERIA don’t choose the easiness. Unmistakably, this album isn’t the most accessible and we must to have time to tame it, but it presents a group with a potential certain and being able to create the surprise.
