HP Fortran compilers are the first choice of technical computing professionals around the world. Each is a robust, full-featured and high-performance compiler from the largest and most experienced Fortran team in the industry. HP's Fortran products are available for multiple platforms: Windows, Tru64 UNIX Alpha, Linux Alpha, and OpenVMS (Alpha / VAX).
Hewlett-Packard Company announces the release of Version 6.6 of its Fortran 95 compiler system for Windows systems. Compaq Visual Fortran for Windows 2000, NT, ME, 98, and 95 systems is a complete development system that includes HP's industry-leading native Fortran 95 compiler, the latest visual development environment from Microsoft, full access to the Win32 Application Programmer Interfaces (APIs), Microsoft Fortran PowerStation compatibility, and support for numerous de facto industry-standard Fortran language extensions.
Fortran continues to be the development language of choice for high-performance scientific, engineering, and technical applications. Compaq Visual Fortran shares a common code base with HP's Fortran 95 compilers for Tru64 UNIX, Linux Alpha, and OpenVMS Alpha systems, giving broad source compatibility and rapid advancement in features and performance. The use of other languages in technical development such as C++ demands that Fortran supports mixed-language application development. Because Compaq Visual Fortran includes Microsoft's Visual C++ 6.0 development environment and "Developer Studio" tool set, HP has the unique advantage among PC Fortran vendors that it supports mixed-language development with Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 within a common development environment.
The release of version 6.6 underlines HP's continued commitment to the high-performance programmer community and its intent to further push the limits in Fortran compiler technology.

Optimizations for the Intel™ Pentium™ 4 processor and general performance improvements for all processors.
Support for 64-bit integer and logical datatypes (INTEGER*8, LOGICAL*8)
Updated and re-translated Win32 interfaces and declarations that are easier to use
New lower pricing on Concurrent License kits
New 2-user Concurrent License kit makes the economy of concurrent licensing available to smaller organizations
New Standard-to-Professional Edition Upgrade kits with academic pricing and/or Concurrent Licensing (requires Concurrent Licensed Standard Edition)
Now you can add concurrent licenses to your existing 6.6 individual license set by buying a concurrent license only. This makes it easy to expand use of Visual Fortran without having to purchase another full kit.
