It's a true story that Video Killed the Radio Star because music should not be about image. Music should be about the music! I learned the hard way. The new Vanilla Ice is exactly that; no image, no polished made up gimmicks created by record companies. I will never be a puppet for the industry again. From this point on I will keep it real. That's why I didn't change the name. It doesn't mean anything; it's only a label. It's not important, plus I am not running from anything or trying to hide. I want people to know that I face my adversaries. Don't get me wrong, though I love Ice Ice Baby, I just can't stand the image that was created for me at that time. Even though it worked and we sold 17 million records, I was treated like a puppet just to make a Hip Hop artist look like a novelty act. I was not designed to be that. I was turned into that by making my image more acceptable to a younger audience, but to tell the difference just listen to the music. It's Hip Hop not Pop like all the other novelty acts.

The media has a way of glamorizing what it's like to be a celebrity, and that's where people get the illusion, but the reality of it is much different. I'm not speaking from just my own experiences. Take a look at the track record, it speaks for itself, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Elvis, and lately Kurt Cobain. These celebrities had a hard time dealing with the reality of being famous. Many used drugs to escape from reality just as I did. It was the only way to find peace and happiness. The thing was, no matter how high I got I still had to come back reality and face it all again. That's when the depression sets in. That's when you hit rock bottom and you either die from it or learn from it. I used to think that money would bring me happiness because I thought of all the material things that I could buy. After experiencing what it's like to be rich, I realized that you are not born with it and you also can't take it with you when you die. What's next?

In '94 I tried to kill myself by overdosing on heroin, cocaine, esctasy, and anything I could get my hands on. At one point, my friends were dumping buckets of cold water on me as I lay on my bathroom floor in convulsions. At that point I had over eighteen million dollars in the bank, and I still couldn't find happiness in being rich or famous. So, after waking up a couple of days later, I realized that I needed to make a change in everything and just go back to the things that used to bring me happiness, like Motocross. I met new friends and started to straighten my life up, and with the help of my family and my music I found new hope.

Now I have a new outlook on life and music. The music is for myself, not to be rich or famous. The new sound is also much harder and darker because of the issues I am writing about. It caters to a new crowd. It leans toward the body piercing, tattoo crowd aging from 15 to 25: the same crowd that you might find at a Korn, Limp Bizkit or Slipknot show. In fact, it was the producer of these bands, Ross Robinson, who produced my record "Hard to Swallow". I call this type of Hip Hop/Metal Molten Hip Hop. Stay tuned because the best has yet to come.

强烈推荐:Hip Hop Rules 、O.K.S、Hot Sex、Unbreakable、Insane Killas & Tha Weed Song。

以下摘自Amazon.com:

1. "Bi=Polar" is one of Vanilla Ice's best records so far. If you like rock, Skabz would be what you prefer but if you like rap then you'd prefer Bomb Tha System. Both are excellent, good ebats combined with good lines. I prefer Skabz...best song on there for me is "I Know" and on Bomb Tha System "Insane Killas" is awesome. Buy the cd, its worth it.

2. If you like real Hip-Hop you will like this Vanilla Ice is back and back in the day he sucked ,but now he is incredible the rhymes are all good his bust songs are (Hip Hop Rules, Tha Weed Song and Natural Born Killas) my favorite track is Natural Born Killas Featuring the Insane Clown Posse Vanilla Ice has redeemed himself with that one.

3. Man, What Can I say. This Album is off the Hook. I am all for Ice. I am a fan who likes Ice for who he is now. F The Media. Ice ain't No Puppet!! He is who he is and this album rocks, he does not need a VH1 makeover to sing a song. True to the game. Pick it up. Looking forward to Platinum Underground later this summer, YEP YEP. As For Hitman, check 'em out in his new band - Opiate For The Masses. In Stores Now. Rocks, Just Picked it up Last week.

Peace!

I knew about the album 4 a while but i had only heard insane Killas and unbreakable when i went to pick up the album i didn't even listen 2 tha clips i just bought it and i poped it in my stereo. when i heard the begening riffs of Nothing is real i instantly was hooked

5. Vanilla Ice is a great artist. He is forever in the shadow of his Ice Ice Baby hit. Everybody liked that one didn't they? Well now why is everybody hating on him? I say if you have not heard any of his new material give it a shot. He is actually really talanted. His beats are tight and he produced, wrote and mixed the entire album by himself. If you want to get a look at a personal side of the ice man check out VH1's Remaking Vanilla Ice. It comes on May 1st. They are working to completly remake him and give him a new sound. Should be pretty good. His new album comes out in summer 2005. I guarantee you will be hearing him on the radio soon! But check out Bi-Polar and Hot sex. You will like it.

6. Whoever said Vanilla Ice can't sing is a baby retard, this guy is the t_I_ltS (if you know what I'm saying!). This guy puts the G to the O to the B to the D to the E dawg!! He's such an inspiration! Not every white suburban kid guy can make music about "...poppin' hoods in ma back seat hoodsa." Granted, Vanilla Ice never said that in any of his songs, but he told me it's going to be on his next album, when I spoke to him at Target and Best Buy, where he was buying out the entire supply of his CDs. He told me he was "...helping to spark fan interest," but a cashier at the store told me he does the same thing every week in an effort to make it appear as if his CDs are celling, so he can keep getting record deals.

Poor Ice. sad.gif

WAIT LET ME BE SERIOUS!

Okay I'm really going to be serious here for a minute...I sorta like this album. The remix of Ice Ice Baby as heavy metal is great. I don't like Nine Inch Nails for the simple reason that they're pretentious and the vocals are drowned out by mechanical/bizarre sounds that I have no interest in.

Vanilla (yes, I know this makes me sound crazy, but I'm serious) is actually quite good at heavy metal. He's a heckuva lot better than Fred Durst, even if he's just as immature and obnoxious.

Worth listening to -- you'll have a few laughs and might be surprised to find yourself enjoying one or two tracks along the way.
