2002年推出的大碟《Visions From The Spiral Generator》，第一次在vintersorg的音乐里听到了明显的鼓声。这张碟融入了很多新的，复杂的元素，比起早期的音乐更现代化，旋律也相对强劲很多。
For fans of Vintersorg, Borknagar, Otyg, hell... anything that has to do with the man, this album is for you. This album combines every element of those bands: The awesome Vintersorg black and clean vocals. folky elements of Otyg, and the experimentation in black metal of Borknagar. This album contains some of the best work I've seen come out of this man, if you thought Cosmic Genesis was good... Let's just say this album takes it to a new extreme.
The music itself is top notch, Vintersorg plays keys, organs, vocals, guitars, in a Dan Swano type move. Then add a real drummer... and not just any drummer... the extremely nasty Asgeir Mickelson of Borknagar. The songs are very atmospheric, so the production is well done. The liner notes show how much work was put into the production itself, with two years of production in several different studios. On another note, Steve Digiorgio shines on this album. The fretless bass work done on a few different songs really shows what it takes to be a top of the line session bass player. Not only is his bass tone amazing, but his playing is just incredible, he takes solos on a song or two, and they are great.
As per usual, the lyrical concepts are related to space, and they make no sense to me, but it sounds good... I listen to Vintersorg's voice as more of an instrument, I don't know about you.
I found it very hard to pick just a few songs that really stood out as great tracks, as this album is full of them.
