Some people go to extremes of volume, vision and hype to attract attention to themselves while others are happy to simply do what they do and rely on building a reputation by the responses of those around them.
Such is the case with Sydney-based singer songwriter - Lior, who released his new single, This Old Love on January 22nd 2007.
Lior's sound is a rootsy mix of styles that always harks back to the lyric and melody. With Middle Eastern heritage, Lior also keeps the music of his bloodline close to the surface.
It is Lior's voice that has drawn most attention, capable of both power and tenderness, always delivered with soul in its truest sense.
Lior released his critically acclaimed debut album 'Autumn Flow' in Australia in 2005. The album was featured as album of the week on Triple J, and the opening track 'This Old Love' was voted onto Triple J's Hottest 100.
The Ministry Of Sound also included 'This Old Love' and Lior's second Single 'Daniel' on their Chillout Session releases.
'Autumn Flow' went on to be nominated for 'Australian Album of the Year' by Triple J as part of the J AWARDS and was nominated for 3 ARIA Awards late 2005.
The album was one of the year's most successful independent releases, and Lior has since become one of the few Australian independent artists to have a debut GOLD Album.
Following the release of 'Autumn Flow', Lior spent a lot of time touring Australia. But now he is spreading his wings and after making a brief visit to the UK in the summer of 2006 to appear at the O2 Wireless Festival in Hyde Park and at London's Spitz Club he returns in January for a short tour which coincides with the release of his first single, 'This Old Love' on Red Ink (a division of SonyBMG).
"What an absolute gem of an album from this indie singer-songwriter. But what shines through is Lior's pure voice, veering from a soft croon to a strong, emotive delivery.." The Daily Telegraph, Sydney, Australia
"He's a truly amazing performer, with some truly amazing material blending blues and folk with the gentlest hints of Lior's Israeli heritage, giving the music a sensational dynamic edge…" Rip It Up Magazine, South Australia
