gOS 是一款另类的操作系统，开发理念是要为公众创造一个简单、易于使用且美丽的桌面环境。沃尔玛百货出售的 gPC 的中预装系统便是 gOS。
gOS 采用的是修改版的 Ubuntu Linux 7.10 操作系统，由于 Ubuntu 良好的兼容特性，所以 gOS 可以良好地支持各种 Web 2.0 程序。
gOS 预装了包括 Google 公司的电子邮件 gMail 及一系列在线办公软件等等。产品预置类似 Mac OS X 的停靠栏，内置多种 Web 应用，有 Google Docs，Google Maps， YouTube，Meebo，Facebook，Wikipedia 等。
gOS Live 可以直接在光碟上运行，也可以将其安装到计算机上。
