Well, I am very glad some a guy has the similar question when I first got into RHEL distrio. Now all the Red Hat Enterprise Server 5 share the same installation image, i.e. no matter standard server or advanced server, you can install them in the same installation media. The very thing to keep in mind is the licence key, product key or serial number which differtiates the correct edition you are attempt to install.

Some outstanding feature such as Red Hat GFS and Cluster Suite exclude in the standard edition. If you find something goes against them, you are using standard edition.

P.S. Red Hat Enterprise Linux Desktop uses another installation image rather than the server, and much large in size. So don't try to license a desktop version with the server installation image. 回复
