It is a time of darkness in the Commonwealth of Planets across six galaxies. Dylan Hunt, captain of the starship Andromeda Ascendant, and his crew prowl the outer limits of space to search for new worlds and to create a peaceful New Commonwealth.

Dylan Hunt is Captain of the Andromeda Ascendant, a ship believed lost during the turmoil that destroyed the System's Commonwealth, which governed a peaceful civilization that spanned worlds in three different galaxies. Betrayed from within, the Commonwealth fell and p1unged society into chaos.

The Andromeda Ascendant is discovered three centuries later on the event horizon of a black hole by a salvage ship called the Eureka Maru. Dylan awakens from a state of sleep suspension on board his ship to find his entire world dramatically changed, and civilization as he knew it in ruins.

Devastated, Dylan is determined to weave together the many diverse cultures of the known worlds until they are once again united. Hence begins the journey of the Andromeda to search for new universes willing to join them in restoring the Commonwealth.

Very nearly succeeding in their mission, their plans were shattered at the final moment by a terrible and painful betrayal – one by a member of his own crew. And now, an important member of the Commonwealth Triumvirate has been kidnapped and it is up to Captain Dylan Hunt and his crew to rescue him from a new enemy.
