Barek and Boar are two brothers in a viking clan. For whatever reason, they're allowed to play next to an altar that house a ring of fire meant to imprison Brunhilda (Kari Wuhrer), a fallen valkyrie who has been cast down by Odin. Supposedly, only a man of pure heart can enter the fire and free Brunhilda from her torment.
Fast forward many years and Boar (Craig Sheffer) decides to try and free her, getting horribly burned in the process only to be saved by Barek (Paul Johansson) who is pure enough to extinguish the flames. Boar begins to die so Brunhilda bites him in order to give him the curse of the berserker, which makes him an immortal killing machine. See in this movie valkyries are like vampires except they only bite men and the men turn into Berserkers instead of anything resembling a vampire.
So then a whole lot of fighting and swords and "ODIN!!" happens and Brunhilda ends up biting Barek, cursing him to be reborn in every generation. Fast forward to modern times, Barek has lost his beard and is in prison for killing a whole lot of people. He meets up with Brunhilda, who doesn't remember anything, and the two of them run from Boar who is roaming the streets of Sweden with his clan of berserkers (IN FULL VIKING ATTIRE!), attempting to find and kill Barek and Brunhilda.
